BrainBox AI, the Montreal-based developer of autonomous HVAC control technology for buildings has been listed among TIME magazine’s Best Innovations of 2020.

First launched in May, 2019, BrainBox AI combines deep learning, cloud-based computing and algorithms to autonomously-control a building’s environment 24/7. It’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology is designed specifically for HVAC systems in commercial buildings and is reported to deliver up to a 25% reduction in total energy costs, a 20-40% reduction in carbon footprint and a 60% increase in occupant comfort.

Since its launch, BrainBox AI has teamed up with over 30 partners across the world and is now managing over 40 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate across five continents. In October, BrainBox AI announced a partnership with AMP Capital Real Estate in Australia, whereby BrainBox AI is being installed in the global investment manager’s entire portfolio within the next 6 months, representing over 40 buildings and 14-million sq. ft. of commercial real estate. And its recent launch in Europe includes an additional 13 buildings, representing over 1.7 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate.
